Vinca Minor

Choose a site in the shade with well-drained soil.
Dig a hole for each plant no deeper than the soil in which the plant was growing. Space holes one foot apart.
Add a light application of organic fertilizer to each hole before placing the plants.
Mulch around-but no on top of the plants with 3 inches of organic compost.
Water well until the soil is completely moist during the first year only. Vinca doesn't need extra water once it is established.

Guide to Growing Grapes

Grapes can grow on a wide range of soil types. Choose deep, well-drained soils to avoid standing water in the sprSng and encourage early growth.
Grapes need full sunlight and high temperatures to ripen, so plant on southern slopes, the south side of windbreaks or the south side of buildings.
It may be beneficial to soak grape vines in water for 2-3 hours prior to planting.
Space vines 6'-8' apart within the row.
Dig your hole large enough so the roots can be spread without bending the roots. Spread the roots and cover them completely with soil. Plant the vines the same depth as in the nursery( note soil line on plant).ill have adequate room to spread out.
After planting cut the strongest cane back to two(2) or three(3) buds, completely remove all other canes. Each bud will develop into a cane.
During the first year, the vines are normaly tied to a stake to keep them off the ground and prevent damage. When growing grapes it is important to get as much first year growth as possible.
Weeds compete with grapevines for moistrue, nutrients and sunlight.
Growing grapes require an adequate supply of essential fertilizer. Apply 8 ounces of fertilizer per plant seven days after planting. Distribute fertilizer evenly 6"-12" away from trunk of vine. Use a balanced fertilizer.
- The Second Year: 30 days before new growth begins in the Springs apply 1 pound of fertilizer.
- The Third Year and following years: 30 days before new growth begins in the Springs apply 1.5 pound of fertilizer.
Water well. Growing grapes require approx. 1 inch of water per week through the first growing season.
Water plants every 7-10 days during the dry weather.
